Who we are
We are a group of congregants who mobilized in the first week of June in response to the announcement of DeReau’s removal.
Some of us are lifelong UUs, and others are new to the faith. All of us sang in the choirs, and some also had involvement in religious education and social justice.
All of us believe that our church is not living up to the ideals we’ve heard from the pulpit.
We are not paid for this work. None of us have a background in organizing. We could not anticipate what this would become when we started (nor would any sane person have proceeded if they’d known!). We are still here because we believe that the faith communities we cherish cannot survive without accountability and repair from our leaders.
We believe in sharing good information and encouraging everyone to draw their own conclusions.
We will not tell you what to believe or what to do, though we recognize that the strength of our convictions may be uncomfortable for some.
We hope you will be in touch if you share some of our concerns, even if you do not agree with all of our positions or tactics.
We appreciate you.
Sincerely,
Alyssa E, Devon M, Hannah O, Amy F, Claudia N, Lynn F, Susan O, Sarah R, Julie E, Kate K, Elisabeth G, and Barb W
